Text Ripple has pledged to sponsor two outstanding students as they embark on their first year of college this fall. This sponsorship from Text Ripple is designed to promote the education and vision of two innovative students showing exceptional ability for future endeavors in the creative field. Sara Chantland and Anna Paddock, students from The Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District Career-Tech Center are the hard-working recipients of these scholarships.
Sara and Anna were part of a Visual Imaging Technology (VIT) program at the Career-Tech Center as an elective class, in addition to their studies at Traverse Bay West. They worked under the guidance of Rebecca Kinnee, a VIT program staff member. The VIT program engages students with hands-on experience and skill training in the creative fields of design, imaging, animation and print. The program allows students to develop and produce real time material for companies in the professional community. Sara and Anna took advantage of this opportunity and created promotional broadcast material for Text Ripple to be delivered summer 2010. The girls successfully combined the skills they learned in the VIT program with their own creativity to develop an engaging commercial emphasizing Text Ripple’s mobile marketing programs and consumer appeal. Their hard work and artistry earned Sara and Anna each their own Text Ripple scholarship.
As part of recognition for their accomplishments, Sara and Anna participated in an annual award ceremony held June 1st to acknowledge all award recipients from the Career-Tech Center. Members of clubs and societies, along with competition winners and endowment recipients were all honored. This year’s award ceremony was exceptional, with an astonishing total of $65,000 worth of scholarships and awards given to Career-Tech Center students. For Text Ripple, it was a privilege to contribute to the future of individuals coming from such a successful program.
We can expect Sara and Anna to accomplish great things with their future academic careers. They both plan to continue their education with a focus in the creative field of art. Together they will complete their basic classes at Northwestern Michigan Community College in Traverse City this fall. Afterwards, they’ll be moving on to universities specifically for Art and Design. But Sara and Anna are already one step ahead of the crowd with impressive portfolios from the Career-Tech Center containing their work for Text Ripple.
Providing sponsorship in the form of scholarships is a way of taking the edge off of any struggles the first year of college may entail to allow the creative juices to flow. It’s imperative to our industry that we don’t let these ideas go to waste. It’s important that inspired student-artists are given the opportunities to shine! The future is female scholarship programs.
As part of the creative community, Text Ripple knows the value in fueling creative minds, especially those from the young generation like Sara and Anna’s. Although creativity cannot be taught, it can be fostered with a solid education. In the end, giving back to the community is what moves us all forward, no matter what your particular career or talent. So in efforts to future our community, Text Ripple’s giving back the best gift we can give: the gift of knowledge.
A special thanks to Rebecca Kinnee for being passionate about such an amazing program, all the educators at the TBAISD for fostering such dynamic education, and to Sara and Anna for dreaming unapologetically!
