If you don’t plan for the future you should plan to FAIL. With the end of the year in focus you should plan your Marketing Calendar. So, what’s the big deal?
Why do you need a calendar?
Put it this way – why do you need a map when you go on a road trip? Sure you could go on an adventure, unplanned, and see what happens. It could work out and be awesome. But, if you lay out your route, decide before-hand what landmarks you want to see, and have your trusty map along with you for unexpected detours, your trip is going to run much smoother and you’re sure to get the most out of your travels .
A marketing calendar is going to help you get the most out of your marketing plan. So where do you start? If you’re already a Text Ripple customer, you’ve got a marketing calendar that was included in our monthly newsletter (Shameless plug to sign up for Text Ripple). Otherwise, grab a calendar online or even the one from your wall and take a look at the rest of the year. There are a lot of holidays coming up which are great guideposts. You may even have a celebration of your own you want to include – maybe you’re business’ anniversary or a special employee event. Next, decide what your goals are, in general for the rest of the year. Do you want to hit a certain profit goal? Do you want to increase sales on Black Friday by a specific percentage over last year? Maybe you’d like to double your gift card sales. Jot these goals down. These are like the landmarks you want to see on your road trip. Now we need to plan out your route – in this case we need to decide when to send Ripples to accomplish these goals and what those Ripples will say.
Those landmark holidays should help but feel free to get creative. Ignore a big holiday if your goals don’t necessarily need to include them. You can also acknowledge those dates early or belated if need be. Once you’ve got your notes on your calendar, log into your Text Ripple account and get them scheduled. You can schedule messages as far in advance as a year from the current day!
